Porsche Unveils Tesla Rival with 300-Mile Range and 670 Horsepower

In 2009, Tesla forever changed the automobile industry when it introduced its Model S. All of a sudden, the concept of electric vehicles wasn’t so foreign. The unveiling also prompted consumers to begin thinking about their carbon footprints and sustainability.

In the years that have passed, many manufacturers have produced their own electric automobiles. However, they have fallen short of the standards put in place by Tesla. Now, Porsche has unveiled its Mission E sports car, which rivals Tesla’s Model S with a 300-mile range and 670 horsepower.

The Mission ESports car will be available to purchase in 2019 and test-drive in 2020. Because it will have two-speed transmissions, the electric sports car will be able to 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. As Inhabitat reports, that is one second slower than the fastest Model S). The automobile will also reach speeds of 155 mph and go 300 miles on a single charge.

The car will have three all-wheel driver versions: 300 kW, 400 kW and 500 kW (402, 536 and 670 horsepower). Though there are few details about its exterior styling, the Mission E is expected to look similar to the model recently revealed at the manufacturer’s website. Rear suicide doors will make the interior fairly roomy.

Engadget reports that the Tesla rival will charge to 80 percent in just 20 minutes. Perhaps most impressive is the fact that this is done without a cable, due to induction charming.

Just think of the Mission E as a sleek sports car with impressive electric capabilities.

As you might expect, the Mission ESports car will not be cheap. Potential buyers can expect to pay $75,000 to $80,000 to start. This is compatible with the Model S price. If you can wait until 2020 to test-drive the Mission E, it may be the vehicle for you.
