Professor Hawking warns Aliens could destroy mankind if we try contacting them

“One day, we might pick up a signal from a planet like this, but we should be wary of answering back,” said professor Hawking stating his fears how discovering alien life in the universe may spell doom for humanity.

Professor Stephen Hawking has sensationally warned that advanced alien civilizations in the cosmos could destroy the human race if we ever try to contact them.

The world-renowned astrophysicist spoke out about his fears of discovering alien life and how discovering them could spell catastrophe for our civilization, as they would most likely come to Earth and conquer it.

Comments like these come after astronomers have found several earth-like candidates in outer space that could potentially be home to alien life. Professor Hawking made reference to exoplanet Gliese 832C—a super Earth discovered not long ago—which has good chances of sustaining life, saying that if aliens are out there, they won’t be very pleased to hear of our existence.

In his documentary titled ‘Stephen Hawking’s Favorite Places’ the astrophysicist said:

“One day, we might pick up a signal from a planet like this, but we should be wary of answering back.”

“Meeting an advanced civilization could be just like Native Americans meeting Columbus. That didn’t turn out so well.”

The world –renowned scientists went on saying how alien life could turn out to be “rapacious marauders roaming the cosmos in search of resources to plunder, and planets to conquer and colonize”.

But do we really need to worry about trying to contact aliens if they are out there?

The views experts have on this matter are mixed.

This, however, isn’t the first time Professor Hawking has spoken out about his fears of an alien invasion. Back in 2010, the astrophysicist shared his fears in a documentary aired by the Discovery Channel.

It seems as Professor Hawking is growing older, he is becoming more and more convinced that humans are not alone in the cosmos.

“After a lifetime of wondering, I am helping to lead a new global effort to find out,” said Professor Hawking.

However, fears of an alien invasion aren’t the only thing crossing professor Hawkings mind at the moment.

The astrophysicist has also warned that climate change is another thing we need to worry about as professor Hawking ears Earth may one day become as hot as Venus if we don’t take care of climate change.

In an interview with the BBC, Professor Hawking said how climate change could turn our beautiful planet into a hothouse. Furthermore, Hawking said how President Trump’s decision to pull out of the Paris Climate Change agreement is a great mistake which could greatly accelerate climate change.

Commenting on climate change and Trump, Professor Hawking said:

“We are close to the tipping point, where global warming becomes irreversible.”

“Trump’s action could push the earth over the brink, to become like Venus, with a temperature of 250C, and raining sulphuric acid.”

But at least when it comes to climate change, other scientists believe Professor Hawking is wrong, and we don’t need to worry about our planet becoming a Venus-like earth anytime soon.

Responding to the fears from Hawking, Pennsylvania State University climate scientist Michael Man commented: “Professor Hawking is taking some rhetorical license here.

“Earth is much further away from the sun than Venus and likely cannot experience a runaway greenhouse effect in the same sense as Venus — i.e. a literal boiling away of the oceans.”

“HoweverHawking’s larger point—that we could render the planet largely inhabitable for human civilization if we do not act to avert dangerous climate change—is certainly valid.”

Hopefully, Professor Hawking is wrong and climate change nor aliens will mess around with us.
