Scientists Just Eliminated Breast Cancer Tumors in 11 days with NO Chemo
In a breakthrough European study, scientists in Amsterdam administered a new protocol for breast cancer treatment which eliminated some types of breast cancer in only 11 days. Never before tested, this new treatment could lead a way towards eliminating some breast cancers.
Nearly 1 in 8 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime — but the recent research from Europe may show a combination of two drugs which could replace surgery and chemotherapy. The prescription drugs, called Herceptin and Lapatinib, had never before been used together in pre-chemotherapy treatment — and proved extremely effective at reducing or eliminating certain types of breast cancer. While not foolproof in the treatment of all types of breast cancer, the results of the study showed enough promise to merit further scientific inquiry.
There may be a catch, though: Herceptin’s licensing currently only makes it available in conjunction with chemotherapy. Hopefully, with the results of this study, that may change. However, scientists and pharmaceutical lawmakers have yet to weigh in on this issue.
Though by no means a conclusive study, this trial shines a light on a cure for breast cancer once and for all. But with an epidemic of such proportions as breast cancer, it’s worthwhile to be well-studied on the subject. The following video will help to answer any questions you might have about the topic:
