This 5 Minute-Exercise You Can Do With Only Your Hands Will Balance Your Emotions & Boost Your Energy
Japan has a long history of developing artistic healing techniques. Jin Shin Jyutsu is another example of this: An art designed to release tensions that develop in our body. These tensions are believed to be the cause of illnesses, blocking the free flow of energy through our bodies.
Similar to what we know about chakras or the meridian system of Chinese medicine, Jin Shin Jyutsu helps to awaken our awareness of our bodies. With this awareness, we can find harmony and balance. With harmony and balance, we may find health.
The premise of Jin Shin Jyutsu is a set of 26 points, called “Safety Energy Locks” or SEL for short. These 26 points lie along energy pathways in the body, and show where energy tends to stagnate.
Master Jiro Murai, a philosopher and healer, is said to be the re-discoverer of Jin Shin Jyutsu. He found evidence of its ancient healing practices in the early 20th century.
Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioners use their hands like “jumper cables” to hold a combination of SELs. With a minimum of effort from the healer, the SELs are gently released. This leads to a corresponding release of pent up energy, restoring balance and health.
The fingers are our easiest locations of energy pathways to access. By balancing energy in our fingers, we can balance our entire bodies! Hold the finger of one hand with all of the fingers of the other to get started.
Try these simple hand exercises to get a taste for Jin Shin Jyutsu:
Hold your Thumb to eliminate depression and worry. Good for stress, tension, and problems of the lungs.
Hold your Index Finger to combat self-critical thoughts. Also helps the jaw and tendons, as well as backaches.
Hold your Middle Finger to help with anger and irritability. Also helpful for fatigue, vision problems, indecision, and frontal headaches.
Hold your Ring Finger for issues of sadness and grief. It also helps with asthma, ringing ears, skin conditions, painful butt rashes, and feelings of negativity.
