It is common knowledge that too much processed sugar is harmful to our bodies. And in today’s world, there’s almost no escaping it as it is present in nearly every kind of processed food we eat. However, this couple found a way to completely cut out processed sugar from their baby’s diet and go fully organic.
Meet baby Grace Cooper — a two-and-a-half-year-old baby who has never eaten even a single gram of processed sugar in her life. And this was achieved by the efforts of her mother, Shan, who put her on a strict organic no-sugar diet from the very beginning.
These days, foods that claim they contain no sugar have a little fine print disclaimer that proves otherwise. And even baby formula and food manufacturers aren’t above adding this ‘secret ingredient’. Due to this, Shan carefully monitored everything that baby Grace ate, and made all of her food at home.
Growing up, Shan had several food allergies and followed a strict diet to avoid allergic reactions and falling sick. After successfully functioning on a dairy-free, gluten-free, and no processed food diet, Shan passed it on to her daughter who now has a strong immune system and rarely falls sick.
Having seen how the diet has worked wonders, Shan told the Daily Mail, that when Grace is old enough, she will give her full freedom to continue with the diet or not. She said, “If she eats a piece of bread I’m not going to have a conniption. She’s going to go to kids’ parties and eat what’s there. I’m never going to go to Grace, You can’t eat anything at this party, but I packed you some kale, here you go.”
She further added, “She’ll be old enough to know she can choose whatever she wants to eat. She’ll probably come home jacked up on sugar and cake and say, ‘mum I don’t feel very well. And next time instead of eating 12 cupcakes she might only eat three. Females particularly have enough problems with eating disorders… I want Grace to eat what makes her feel good.”
With that level of commitment toward’s Grace’s health and wellbeing, Shan definitely wins at parenting.
