Prepare to be amazed: 30 breathtaking images of abandoned places

There are places on Earth where time seems to have stopped, almost as if certain areas are under a mysterious spell, suspended in a bubble where time has taken a pause.

When seeing these images, I get the notion that no matter how lonely and weak these places may seem, they offer an unprecedented view into our past, while maintaining a sense of reality, and telling their story as proud ‘statues’ that were once teeming with life in an open-air museum maintained by mother nature.

In this article, we’ve gathered 30 amazing images of places all around the world that tell a story like no other article. Courtesy of itsabandoned.

Prepare to be amazed, and share this article with your friends.

Pride of America

A photograph of the abandoned wreckage of the SS America.

Wreck of the SS America – This ship was originally supposed to be a symbol of American pride and industry. Launched in 1939, the ship quickly became involved in the Pacific War between America and Japan. After the war, the SS America became a cruise liner. When the United States witnessed a wave of new cruise ships, the America was no longer considered top-class and slowly but surely became less popular in U.S. culture. Eventually, the ship was being sold to businessmen in Thailand, when it was caught in a thunderstorm and the lines between the tow-boats and the Ship were severed.
