Everyone — humans and animals alike — benefits from spending time in nature. Not only do outdoor environments oxygenate the cells and alkalize the body, research has shown time in the wilderness alleviates depression and anxiety. After scrolling through photos of a Japanese hedgehog on his own camping adventures, we’ll bet you pack up the tent and sleeping bags tonight.

Azuki, who is famous worldwide because of his perky ears, button nose, and delightful roundness, recently traded in his cozy dream house for a miniature Coleman camping gear set. Along with his caretaker, he embarked on a trip to the great outdoors.

In the photos below, Azuki is seen with his own tent, kayak, and barbecue. Basically, he packed for success — and safety. We’ll bet you begin planning a campaign adventure of your own before you finish ogling his photos.

In one of the Instagram pictures, Azuki can be seen poking his little face out of a tent. In another, he is seated in his own kayak, prepared to hit the open water. Another photo shows Azuki perched on miniature camping chairs while wearing a sun hat. At one point, he even appears to be returning to camp with a wagon of freshly chopped firewood.

Last year, the hedgehog went viral when a sweet video of him being cheered up by his favorite snack was shared. As he unfurled himself from a spiky ball, the world quickly fell in love with him.

Following are 5+ photos from his recent camping adventure:

Though photo series such as this one do little to alleviate worldwide conundrums, they do lift people’s spirits — and that, some might argue, is valuable by itself. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 350 million people worldwide suffer from depression. And, it is suspected many more experience depression and anxiety, but are unaware of their mental distress.

Photo series such as this one (and animal photos in general) remind people of the positive happenings that mainstream media rarely reports on. Hopefully, the photos of Azuki in a camping environment brightens your day, and those you share this article with.
