Donald Trump hasn’t been doing so well lately.  He’s been spreading all sorts of false information, apparently, while also possibly a few hundred more haters every day on social media.  When he decided to cut funding for transgender Military personnel, however, he really dug himself into a hole.

Kristen Beck, a former Navy SEAL in Team 6, decided to step up and call our the President over his actions.  Beck, formerly Chris, served 20 years and was part of the troop who helped weed-out Osama Bin Laden.  She wants Trump to know that his decision to kick out transgender individuals is extremely discriminating.

“Being transgender doesn’t affect anyone else,” Beck said to Business Insider.  She does not believe that her service was a “distraction” or that she wasn’t integral to the country’s defense.  “Let’s meet face to face and you tell me I’m not worthy,” she continues “Transgender doesn’t matter. Do your service.”

With a possible 6,630 individuals currently serving in our Military being transgender, Trump has suggested that the cost to cover medical expenses is a driver behind the decision.  Beck, outraged at such an insubstantial claim, pointed out “You’re talking about .000001% of the military budget.”

It doesn’t really make sense to point fingers at “distraction”, either.  Isn’t anything that happens in a platoon between individuals a potential distraction?  “A very professional unit with great leadership wouldn’t have a problem (with transgender soldiers)”, says Beck.  Essentially, if you can’t run the ship, it’s more about who is in charge then whether or not someone has decided to become a transgender individual.

Beck was a key player in her Team’s take down of Osama Bin Laden.  Not part of the last mission, she did take part in seven deployments leading up to it, and helped support her platoon in finding him.  She has a Purple Hear and Bronze Star for her participation in the combat, and is currently still involved with the military as a consultant.

Whatever the real reason behind his decision, it is clear that Trump has no real honesty to his claims.  In fact, it might be for other dubious reasons.  Either way, it took a lot of guts for Beck to speak out, and we should be honored to have her as one of our nation’s heroes.
